2J MORGAN FARMS, a family enterprise, is located in the heart of
wild rose country 15 minutes east of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The purebred
component of the breeding program has been in operation for 23 years. We typically
maintain a herd of around 60 head of horses, including the basic broodmare band and other
individuals of various ages and levels of training. We rear ten to twenty foals per year,
many of who can be found across Canada and throughout the U.S.
We also maintain a Saskatchewan division in the land of the short grass prairie, located
near the Val Marie Grasslands, an area rich in history in the settling of the West!
Most of our broodmares can be found happily grazing there kept company by our stallion of
choice during breeding season. The stallions return to Alberta for the winter, and the
youngsters, who receive basic groundwork in Saskatchewan, come home to continue their
education.

Breeding
Program
Our breeding program is carefully
crafted, and we select stallions whose bloodlines were chosen to complement the genetics
of our mares.

Foundation lines include the historical Flyhawk, Jubilee King, Redman, Redoak, and
Rockfield. Modern lines that appear in the pedigrees are Beamington, Trebles Willy Wild,
Tug Hill Commando, Twin Pond Disco Kid and Government. Our goal has always been and
continues to be to produce tractable correct "using" Morgans with that
"Morgan attitude", equally at home on the range or in the show arena.
Horses that we have produced have been used in all aspects of the equine world; ranging
from family companions, working stock horses and driving; to various disciplines in the
show world.
Our training component
is an integral part of our farm. Al offers a unique blend of training techniques developed
over the years as an avid proponent of Hunt and Dorrences philosophy of working with
the horse not against it. Als years of study in Animal Behavior both through his
early career as a wildlife researcher and through personal study have contributed greatly
to his understanding of equine behavior. Clinics and one on one training is offered
regularly.
